Pupillary Distance (PD) is the distance between the centers of the pupils in each eye.
We need this measurement when ordering your prescription eyeglasses from us. Positioning lenses correctly in relation to the center of the pupils is especially important for higher powered lenses due to the location of the optical center of the eyes. The measurement is in millimeter increments and the average PD measure is around 60mm.
After your eye examination with your doctor, be sure to request him to measure your Pupillary Distance or PD. If you already had your eyes examined and do not have your Pupillary Distance (PD), you can try to obtain it through your Optometrist office. However, most offices do not release this measurement unless eyeglasses are purchased with them.
If your doctor is not releasing this measurement, don’t worry, Its a measurement that is simple and easy to do yourself.
